HISTORY
WHEN REVIVAL MET A GENERATION.
The Jesus People Movement - a sovereign move of God that swept across America in the 1960 and 70s.
During the revival of the 1960s and 70s, thousands of young people were drawn into radical salvation across America. Something powerful also broke loose in Prescott, Arizona.
In 1970, Wayman and Nelda Mitchell moved to Prescott to take over a small, struggling congregation. Not long after, God began saving young hippies — wild, broken, and nothing like the traditional church crowd. But the church welcomed them, and God poured out His Spirit. Two hundred young people showed up... and many got saved. Bands played, testimonies were shared, and the Gospel was preached. Every week, souls were saved.
Then in 1978, the first missionary couple was launched to Australia — and the Gospel worked there just like it did in Prescott. Churches followed in Mexico, Holland, Germany, and beyond. As the vision for world evangelism grew, so did the movement.
Today, that single church in Prescott has multiplied into over 4,000 churches across the United States and the world.
